Forum: faqs Subject: download files on archive.org from different domain

Hey,
I'm building a flash site for a musician. His mp3 files are on Archive.org.
Is it possible to directly (force-)download them from my site? It looks to me like there is a security issue.
Has anyone info on this?
Thanks,
Peter

You mean by pasting a link? I know you can embed the flash player from here on sites too but I forget how.

No. The Flash site I'm building will be hosted by my own provider, so under a different domain. On the site I have a songlist, which are supposed to link directly to the mp3 files on Archive.org. So clicking them opens a standard download popup. Because just linking to the mp3 opens it in the same window I use a force-download php that forces the download popup to appear. This works when using mp3 files that are hosted on the same domain as my flash site, but doesn't if the path is "http://www.archive.org/...etc.").
Which let me to conclude that it was some sort of security issue on the archive.org domain, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,
